Next Up: Arabella's Story
I'm always a bit hesitant when it comes to those ".5" novellas that get added to a series. More often than not, they feel like they could have been condensed and sprinkled into the main books without losing much. However, I'm holding out hope that Revealing the Dragons will be different!
This novella promises to shed more light on some of the Stonefire dragons we have yet to get to know as well, and it'll be interesting to see the repercussions of Melanie's book. It will at least bring some benefits, especially for Melanie in reconnecting with her family.
While I'm not expecting a ton of action from this shorter story, I'm hoping it provides a satisfying interlude in the overall narrative and offers some interesting insights. Maybe it will surprise me with unexpected depth or a change in the usual ".5" novella dynamic. Here's hoping! I'm off to start reading now—fingers crossed! 🤞
I just finished Revealing the Dragon by Jessie Donovan, and I have to admit, it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. It was a cute, quick read, but I didn't feel like it added a whole lot to the overall Stonefire Dragons series. While it did give us some more insight into Triston and Melanie's relationship and set the stage for Arabella's story in Healed by the Dragon, it wasn't exactly essential to the overarching plot.
Melanie's book and its impact on the dragon community are important, but I felt like this story could have been woven into the other books without needing a dedicated installment. Perhaps mentioning the media conferences and the book's release in passing would have been enough. It was a quick read, which was nice, but it just didn't have the same depth and impact as the other books in the series.
That being said, if you're a completionist and want to experience every chapter of the Stonefire Dragons saga, then go ahead and give it a read. It does offer some interesting tidbits and hints at potential future conflicts, but it's not crucial to understanding the main storyline.
I finished Revealing the Dragon by Jessie Donovan, and while it was a cute and quick read, I do have to add a content warning. It's definitely not for younger audiences due to some strong language and adult scenes.
Honestly, this was one I could have skipped. It was alright, but it didn't feel crucial to the overall series. The most interesting part was the reveal of a new enemy, the Dragon Knights, at Melanie's media conference. That definitely adds a new layer of intrigue to the story! I also liked how it set the stage for Arabella's book, Healed by the Dragon, which I'm starting tomorrow.
Overall, it was an okay read but not my favorite in the series. I'm much more excited to dive into the next book! See you in the comments!
