For some reason, my enemies think dead bodies work as a communication method. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer a letter. When I find a pulverized gargoyle on my lawn, I can’t help but think things are about to get rocky. The gargoyles don’t expect me to look into the death, but who can ignore murder on their doorstep? Ex-soldier Greg Manners knows all about violence and he thinks that the ogres are involved. Deadly or not, I’ll go toe-to-toe with their lethal king if I need to. I’m determined to find justice – but just when I start investigating, one of the pack’s children is snatched.
I’m in a race against time to find him when it turns out that Bobby isn’t the first stolen child. I’ll have to navigate Other World politics to work out what the purloined children have in common. Maybe if I know why they’ve been taken, I’ll discover who took them. Because the clock is ticking and I am all out of suspects.
Esme and I have to work together to find the kids, before it’s too late…
Don't miss this werewolf shifter series if you like humor, heart and a strong heroine with a slow burn, loyal-beta fade-to-black romance.
As I started reading Guardians of the Pack, I couldn't help but feel a sense of Deja Vu. Once again, there's a murder mystery afoot with a body found on Lucy's lawn at her mansion. Part of me worries that this book may end up repeating too much of the same ground as the previous one. However, I'm willing to reserve judgment until I dive deeper into the story.
I am intrigued by the introduction of gargoyles into this supernatural world. Bringing new mythical creatures into the mix could really shake things up in an interesting way. I'm curious to learn more about their role and how they'll factor into the overarching plot. Plus, the mystery of how the body ended up on Lucy's property has me hooked already.
My biggest hope for this installment is that the pack finally, fully accepts Lucy as their rightful alpha leader without giving her too much guff. She's proven herself time and again, so it would be great to see her receive the respect and loyalty she deserves without constant challenges to her authority. A unified pack would make for a refreshing change of pace
Additionally, I'm eager for more appearances by the whimsical unicorn character introduced in the last book. He added such a fun, lighthearted dynamic, and I have a feeling he'll play an increasingly important part moving forward. Fingers crossed he gets plenty of page time to work his unicorn magic.
While I have a few reservations, I'm staying optimistic that Guardians of the Pack will build upon the last book in an entertaining, progressive way for the series as a whole.
I recently finished reading Guardians of the Pack by Heather G. Harris, and I have to say, it's been one of the most captivating reads I've encountered in a while. From the very first page, I found myself utterly engrossed in the story, unable to put the book down until I reached the final chapter.
One of the things that really stood out to me about this book was the way the author masterfully wove in unexpected twists and turns throughout the narrative. Just when I thought I had figured out where the story was headed, a new development would catch me off guard, keeping me on the edge of my seat and eager to unravel the mysteries that lay ahead.
In my opinion, this book is arguably one of the best installments in the series so far. The author's attention to detail was remarkable, painting vivid scenes that allowed me to fully immerse myself in the world they had created. At the same time, there were moments when the details were intentionally sparse, leaving room for my imagination to fill in the gaps and heightening the sense of anticipation.
One aspect of the book that particularly resonated with me was the relationship between Lucy and Manners. I found myself rooting for them from the beginning, and when they finally came together, it was a moment of pure joy. I can't wait to see how their dynamic unfolds in the next installment of the series.
As an avid reader, I always try to be mindful of the content and themes present in the books I delve into, especially when recommending them to others. In the case of "Guardians of the Pack" by Heather G. Harris, I can confidently say that there aren't many concerning factors to worry about.
While the book does contain some profanity, it's relatively mild and doesn't detract from the overall reading experience. For the most part, the content remains within the realm of what I would consider PG, making it a suitable choice for young adult readers as well as adults.
What truly impressed me was Heather's eloquence in delivering a dynamic and engaging story without relying on overly detailed or offensive descriptions. She skillfully navigates potentially sensitive scenes with tact and discretion, allowing the reader's imagination to fill in the gaps while maintaining a respectful tone.
Overall, "Guardians of the Pack" is a relatively safe and enjoyable read for a wide audience. Heather's writing style strikes a perfect balance between captivating storytelling and appropriate content, making it a book that can be appreciated by readers of various ages and sensibilities.
