Book Synopsis

It’s not paranoia when they are really out to get you…

I’m Amber, potion and rune mistress and all round witch extraordinaire. I’ve spent half my life building my career and I finally feel like greatness is within my grasp. I’ve been working on a special potion, a potion that could change everything for witches and wizards everywhere.

Unfortunately some people are allergic to change and will stop at nothing to keep the status quo. A price has been put on my head – and my enemies are coming for me. Vampyrs, ogres and black witches are gunning for me, and they want me dead by any means necessary. In their infinite wisdom, the coven council assigns me my very own griffin bodyguard – and of course, the one they assign is none other than my most hated enemy, Bastion.

Bastion comes with his own baggage. He has a black witch’s curse upon him and it is slowly killing him. To save myself, I’m going to have to lift the curse and work with him – because another black witch is circling and she has me in her sights…I need to save my enemy, finish my potion, and hunt down the black witch – if she doesn’t kill me first.

Don't miss this witchy series if you like humor, heart and a strong heroine with a slow burn, enemies to lovers, fade-to-black romance.

The Hook

I  can't express how excited I am to dive into Heather G. Harris's next book, "Hex of the Witch." From the moment Amber was introduced in the Glimmer series, I was captivated by her character. She's not just a powerful witch; she's a formidable presence with a mix of attitude, kindness, and a caring heart. Amber's complexity makes her incredibly relatable and intriguing, and I've been eager to see more of her story unfold.

In this book, I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the dynamic between Amber and Bastian develop further. The tension and history between them, especially after the events of "Rune of the Witch," set the stage for a fascinating exploration of forgiveness and redemption. I'm hopeful that  Amber and Bastian will be able to bury the hatchet, or at least form a tentative friendship. Amber's journey toward forgiving Bastian for killing her fiancé is a tough one, but considering he was merely fulfilling a contract, the real anger should be directed at the person who ordered the hit. This nuance adds depth to their relationship and opens the door for potential reconciliation.

The little bridge of trust they managed to build in "Rune of the Witch" has so much potential. I'm excited to see if this bridge can evolve into a cautious friendship, and perhaps even hint at a budding romance. The idea of Amber and Bastian finding common ground and maybe even a connection beyond their troubled past is thrilling. It adds an emotional layer to the action and intrigue that Heather G. Harris is so good at crafting.

Overall, "Hex of the Witch" promises to be a compelling continuation of Amber's story. I'm eager to see how her character grows and how her relationship with Bastian unfolds. This book has all the elements of a great read, and I can't wait to get started.

Heather G Harris has done it again with "Hex of the Witch," delivering an elegant yet refined story that perfectly balances character development with an engaging plot. As always, Harris's ability to  tell a story without relying on overly graphic details impresses me. The narrative is richly detailed, but never so much that it becomes overly wordy or detracts from the story's momentum. This delicate balance showcases Harris's skill as a storyteller and her respect for her readers' imaginations.

In "Hex of the Witch," we follow Amber De Lear, the coven mother, who finds herself under attack due to a potent potion she's  creating. Her protector? None other than her mortal enemy, Bastian, the very man who killed her fiancé. This dynamic is the heart of the story, transforming from outright hatred to a cautious friendship that adds a compelling layer to the plot. Harris handles this evolving relationship with grace and nuance, making it one of the most captivating elements of the book.

I particularly appreciate how Harris portrays the shift in  Amber and Bastian's relationship. Their journey from enemies to tentative allies is believable and engaging, making me eager to see how their dynamic will develop further. I hope to see more of Bastian and Amber in the next book in the series, as I sense there might be a deeper connection brewing between them. Harris has laid the groundwork for a potentially fascinating and complex relationship, and I'm excited to see where she takes it.

"Hex of the Witch" has left me eagerly anticipating the next installment, "Coven of the Witch." Heather G Harris's storytelling continues to captivate, and I can't wait to see what happens next in Amber and Bastian's evolving relationship. Let's see what Harris has in store for us in the next book!

Heather G Harris has done it again with her latest book, "Hex of the Witch," delivering an exceptional tale that captivates from start to finish. As a long-time fan, I was thrilled to dive into this new adventure, and Harris was not disappointed. Her storytelling prowess shines through, weaving a spellbinding narrative that balances excitement and heart without crossing any lines into the overly offensive or gratuitous.

One of the standout features of "Hex of the Witch" is its accessibility. Unlike many contemporary fantasy novels, Harris keeps the cursing to a minimum. There are only a few instances of bad language, which are strategically placed and do not detract from the story. More importantly, Harris is mindful of her audience's sensitivities, ensuring that there are no harmful or triggering issues that would affect victims of abuse. This careful consideration makes the book a safe and enjoyable read for a wide range of readers.

Spoiler Alert:

I am extremely satisfied with this book, especially with the subplot involving Amber and Bastian. Seeing these two characters finally bury the hatchet was incredibly rewarding. Their reconciliation added depth and warmth to the story, providing a satisfying conclusion to their arc. "Hex of the Witch" is a testament to Heather G Harris's talent, combining engaging characters, a well-paced plot, and a respectful approach to sensitive topics. This book is a must-read for fans of the genre, and I eagerly await Harris's next masterpiece.
