When Amber DeLea darkens my door a few days before Christmas, I'm expecting trouble. Instead, her orphan ward, Jade, has lost her Christmas stocking, and Amber wants me to find it. Simple, right?
Meeting little Jade strikes a chord in me, and suddenly I find I'll do anything to make sure she still has a Christmas where she still believes in Santa. I can't let her down.
I'm a truth-seeker on a mission, and if I can find the stocking and fit in a date with the sexy dragon shifter Emory as well, then even better...
A feel-good Christmas novella. Fluff abound. Best enjoyed with a mince pie and hot cup of tea.
My concern for this book is that it's going to be similar to Glimmer of Dragons, which was a very short book that could have easily fit into the series somewhere. As someone who has fallen in love with this series, I'm always excited to dive into a new installment, but I worry that this novella will be another short story that doesn't quite feel like a full-fledged addition to the series. With most novellas in a series, there's usually a piece of writing that matches the series but doesn't exactly fit into the storyline - and while I understand that sometimes these stories are intentionally standalone, I also know that with a little bit of editing, it could easily fit into another story. Despite these reservations, I'm hopeful for this book - I'm eager to see how Heather Harris expands on the world she's created and adds more depth and richness to the characters and storylines. I'm keeping an open mind and hoping that this novella will be a delightful addition to the series, even if it doesn't necessarily add a ton of new plot points.
I'm so glad I got to read Glimmer of Christmas by Heather G Harris. As I turned the pages, I couldn't help but feel a sense of confirmation - this book was indeed short, clocking in at just six chapters. I had suspected as much, given its similarities to Glimmer of Dragons, which also had a mere handful of chapters. But despite its brevity, this Christmas tale still managed to pack a punch and leave a lasting impression on me.
As I delved into the story, I found myself becoming increasingly invested in the plight of Jade, the young child at the heart of the narrative. Harris's portrayal of Jade's struggles and emotions is nothing short of masterful, and I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sympathy for the little one. Jinx's efforts to help Jade, meanwhile, were a testament to her kind and compassionate nature - it's no wonder she's caught Emery's eye!
One of the things that struck me most about Glimmer of Christmas was the way it allowed us a glimpse into the budding relationship between Jinx and Emery. The subtle hints at their growing feelings for each other added a layer of depth to the story, and I found myself eagerly anticipating their next encounter. Of course, the true star of the show is Jade - her story is one of joy and heartache, and Harris handles it with such sensitivity and care. Despite its short length, Glimmer of Christmas is a beautiful little tale that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
As I read Glimmer of Christmas by Heather G Harris, I was struck by how refreshing it was to dive into a story that wasn't shrouded in darkness or angst. There's no need to be weary of mature themes or heavy-handed subject matter here - this book is a true gem, and I think it's largely due to its PGA (Parental Guidance Age) rating. Whether you're listening to the audiobook on YouTube, where it's been cleaned up for general audiences, or reading the physical copy, you can rest assured that this story is suitable for readers of all ages. There's no explicit content, no graphic descriptions, and no heavy emotional toll to take. Instead, you're treated to a heartwarming tale that celebrates the magic of Christmas and the power of kindness and compassion. It's a true delight, and I think it's a perfect example of how a story can be both sweet and impactful without sacrificing any depth or emotional resonance.
