Book Synopsis

She's been the victim and the survivor…

Poppy never dreamed she would find the love she’s found with Prince Casteel. She wants to revel in her happiness but first they must free his brother and find hers. It’s a dangerous mission and one with far-reaching consequences neither dreamed of. Because Poppy is the Chosen, the Blessed. The true ruler of Atlantia. She carries the blood of the King of Gods within her. By right the crown and the kingdom are hers.

The enemy and the warrior…

Poppy has only ever wanted to control her own life, not the lives of others, but now she must choose to either forsake her birthright or seize the gilded crown and become the Queen of Flesh and Fire. But as the kingdoms’ dark sins and blood-drenched secrets finally unravel, a long-forgotten power rises to pose a genuine threat. And they will stop at nothing to ensure that the crown never sits upon Poppy’s head.

A lover and heartmate…

But the greatest threat to them and to Atlantia is what awaits in the far west, where the Queen of Blood and Ash has her own plans, ones she has waited hundreds of years to carry out. Poppy and Casteel must consider the impossible travel to the Lands of the Gods and wake the King himself. And as shocking secrets and the harshest betrayals come to light, and enemies emerge to threaten everything Poppy and Casteel have fought for, they will discover just how far they are willing to go for their people—and each other.

And now she will become Queen…

The Hook

For this story I am rereading the book, but why am I rereading this book? It is simple but look at things this way, books one and two set the stage for the plights of the characters. But at the end of book 2 Poppy goes from hating and stabbing the man to loving him unconditionally. Now they are married and about to be crowned king and queen of Atlantia. But how can that happen? Its simple love conquers all and it goes double for this next book in the Series of blood and Ash.

First off the book starts off right where we left off at the end of book two with Poppy, Casteel, his mother and father, Alistair, the royal guards, and all of the wolven in Atlantia standing there ready to fight each other. Secondly, this book is where the truths become known and all the lies as well as little insinuations throughout the first and second books start to come together and make sense. This book kept me interested right up to the end and eager for the next book. This book makes me Love, “Love,” and the fact that it conquers continuously through the books makes me love, ‘love” all the more. Because love truly conquers all.

Book Review

In this book of the blood and ash series, a lot has happened and a lot of changes take place as the story progresses and Poppy discovers the truth about her origins. I love how this book picks up right where the last left off and there isn’t a big gap in time where you’re not sure what happens. But that’s where Jennifer Armentrout excels. Not only is this book very detailed, but it keeps to a chronological order that we can understand, even when we jump into the past with Poppy as she continues to have her nightmares. That being said, let’s talk about Poppy in this book, and bravo for Poppy finally stepping into her amazing big girl shoes.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen till the end of the book which I know is gonna make you wonder, “Why Poppy gets a bravo,” it’s because this book is where Poppy finally learn the truth about her origins and instead of running from it she embraces it. She puts on those big girl shoes and dances the cha-cha all over the Ascended. But more than just Poppy’s origins come to light in this book, we find out that the good aren’t always good and the bad aren’t always bad. Jennifer did a great job with the book as it keep you on your toes and most of the loops actually through you for a loop. Now I am good at figuring out the plot to most stories before they actually happen, but there are a few twists in this book that even I didn’t see coming. All in all, I feel this is another good book in the series and probably my favorite one in the whole series so far.

Book Spoilers

Disclaimer: This section might contain Spoilers about the book because, as we read the books we try to provide readers with information that might catch them off guard  and/or trigger them to in one way or another. This is the main reason for this blog was created.

One of the great things about Jennifer's books is that there isn’t a lot to be concerned about in regard to things that might catch you off guard. However, in this book there is a conversation in chapter27 when poppy is speaking with Casteel’s parents about her origins where Poppy wonders if her mother was raped because her birth should not have been possible. It is also hinted at that Casteel might have also been raped when he was captured by the ascended, but they don’t specifically say he was. There are other parts in this book where sexual exploits are discussed in detail that might not be appropriate for anyone under the of 16 as well as there being adult language throughout the book.
